Who it's for

Contractors and suppliers considering Constructionline membership, responding to a tender or preparing for verification.

What Constructionline is

Constructionline is a prequalification service used by buyers in construction and the public sector to check suppliers once, rather than each buyer asking the same questions. Businesses provide information and evidence about their activities, insurances, competence and arrangements, with the checks depending on the membership level.

The levels

LevelWhat it covers
BronzeVerified supplier profile and included SSIP health and safety verification.
SilverBuilds on Bronze, with checks covering corporate and professional standing.
GoldAdds verification against the Common Assessment Standard and Building Safety Act assessment arrangements.
PlatinumIncludes Gold-level requirements plus a one-day, on-site audit at your premises.

Check Constructionline's website for current levels and inclusions. The questions and evidence required also depend on your trade, activities and circumstances.

If you already have SSIP approval from another registered scheme, you may not need to repeat the core health and safety assessment. Read our SSIP and Deem to Satisfy guide.

Which level do you need?

Your client, tender or framework will usually determine the required verification level. Check their written requirements before selecting or upgrading membership, rather than assuming that a higher level is always necessary.

Constructionline Gold and CHAS Elite

Constructionline Gold and CHAS Elite can both provide routes to assessment against the Common Assessment Standard. Many buyers recognise this industry assessment standard across approved assessment bodies, although each tender decides what evidence it accepts. Read our CHAS Evidence Guide and Common Assessment Standard Version 6 guide.

Platinum's site audit

For Platinum, an auditor visits the company's premises to check that submitted policies and procedures are genuinely being implemented. It is more than a review of paperwork, so current inspection records, staff knowledge and evidence of everyday controls matter. See what assessors look for in practical evidence.

Why applications get delayed

Missing evidence, mismatched insurance details, unclear answers and late confirmation from third parties can delay verification. Read Why Do Constructionline Applications Get Delayed? for practical steps to avoid common problems.
