What certification involves

A Stage 1 audit checks the system is documented and ready. A Stage 2 audit checks it works in practice. Certification bodies usually want to see it running for a period, with an internal audit and management review completed. Read more in What Happens During an ISO Certification Audit?

ISO 14001 and accreditation schemes

Holding a certified ISO 14001 system can exempt you from some environmental questions in the Common Assessment Standard (CHAS Elite), subject to the certificate's scope and validity. See what assessors expect for environmental evidence.
