Supervisors, team leaders and managers delivering practical workplace safety briefings.
Why it matters
Slips and trips are one of the most common causes of workplace injury, and most are preventable with good housekeeping.
Key points
- Keep walkways and stairs clear of materials, cables and waste.
- Clean up spills straight away, or cordon them off and report them.
- Report damaged flooring, loose mats, poor lighting and trailing cables.
- Wear the right footwear for the conditions.
- Use handrails on stairs and don't carry loads that block your view.
- Take extra care in wet, icy or changing conditions, including site entrances.
Questions to ask your team
- Where on our site are slips or trips most likely?
- What spills or mess do we get, and who deals with them?
- Is anything damaged or poorly lit that we should report today?
Use the downloadable talk and attendance record to document the briefing, including names, companies and signatures.
