Prepared by Morgan Compliance Group · Published 23 October 2026 · Updated 23 October 2026
Who it's for
Contractors, site supervisors and managers planning work that needs a risk assessment and method statement.
How to complete it
- Enter the client, site, activity, start date, duration, document owner, approval and revision details.
- Describe the scope and work sequence, then allocate responsibilities and identify the skills, equipment, materials and permits needed.
- Record access, welfare, emergency arrangements and environmental controls for the actual site.
- Assess each hazard using the shared 5 x 5 risk matrix and allocate additional actions to named people.
- Brief everyone before work starts, obtain their signatures and revise the RAMS when the work or conditions change.
RAMS combines a risk assessment with a method statement. The method statement explains how the job will be done safely, step by step. It must be specific to the job and site, briefed before work starts and updated when things change.
